12 Anyone who builds on that foundation (Jesus Christ) may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
Remember that Paul taught about one Head, that is the Lord Jesus Christ and no human leader. He did not teach about organizations and any professions (paid jobs) that deal with the Word of God. So, what can we say about the groups who posses two heads instead of One?...groups who have a head office on earth in addition to the Head in heaven, Jesus Christ? By the structure that we find now from denominations and organizations (i.e. Baptists, Evangelists, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Jesus is Lord, etc. to name a few), they are all committing the gross sin of sectarianism. They divide the body of Christ by following certain leaders and groups. In addition, they base their operation the way businesses do with a head office and a pyramid system which work very well in this world for profit and prestige, power and politic contributions and affiliation. It would be hard for anyone on top of this pyramid system to stop because there is so much money floating. But let us go back to the teachings of Paul that is written for us to follow and to rely on.
13 Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not! 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 for now no one can say they were baptized in my name. 16 (Oh yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but I don’t remember baptizing anyone else.) 17 For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News—and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power. --1 Corinthians 1:13-17
Humanly speaking, a body has one head. In as much the same way, Christ is the only unique head of His body. This is why denominations cannot function properly with two heads. One pulls one way and the other pulls the other way. Both have different agenda: One is spiritual, the other is earthly and carnal. One will remain but the other will be burned out.
The fact that Paul took so much time into this subject proves to us the importance of having one Head, not to change it nor to falsify it. Our foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ. Each part of the body moves and breathes through Him. Everything is dictated and controlled by Him. When a house is build the most important thing is the foundation. Without Christ as the foundation, the house would move, crack, and deteriorate. At the end, the work will be of no value.
I appeal to you, dear brothers, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church (assembly). Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. --1 Corinthians 1:10
